Life drawing day with Alan Dedman will take place on the 25th of June 2022, 10am to 5pm at the White House, Badingham in Suffolk. Set within the grounds of an historic Georgian house, (former home of the Zinkeisen sisters), this will be an all day session with input from visiting artists who studied drawing and anatomy at the Royal Academy Schools (RAS). Participants will be able to explore the great Classical tradition of the nude, working from life.

Alan Dedman studied fine-art (painting) to post-graduate level at the RAS (during Peter Greenham’s term as Keeper) and has worked in education since the 1980s. He took a PGCE from Bath Spa University College in 2006 and is a member of the Royal Academy Schools East Anglian Group (RASEAG). His experience of teaching people across the social spectrum, from primary to post-grad furnishes him with rare expertise. He will be joined by Brian Alexander, another member of the RASEAG.

There will be a demonstration of objective drawing, with one to one tuition throughout the day. A balance of short and long poses will generate confidence and fluency in the simple (but challenging) discipline of drawing.

You will need to bring your own drawing board and materials (some paper and charcoal will be on sale) and a packed lunch. Refreshments, tea, coffee etc will be provided. Life Drawing Day will end with a glass of wine or soft drink in the garden, weather permitting. If it rains this will take place in the drawing studio instead.

Life Drawing Day workshops are run in a large studio, however it is expedient to limit the number of places to a maximum of 20. If you are keen to develop your skills and already have some experience or if you are a complete beginner and want to ‘have a go’, then come along! This is an opportunity to connect with like-minded people in the Woodbridge/Southwold area and have some fun with an off-line experience for a change.

Cost: £75 to include refreshments and a glass of wine/soft drink.
To book a place, please leave your contact details on the form below this blog. Your details (comments) will not be publicly visible.
